This is a great thread, like the first two tips and will definitely give them a try. My way to make extra cash is to start making your own beer. If you spend a lot of money drinking then why not make your own brand? I started off experimenting and the taste is not that bad, in fact sometimes it's better than what you get depending on the ingredients you use, you can be really inventive and try different ingredients. I've tried vanilla flavor and so far my friends have really loved it, they even pay me buy make a keg for them. 4. Professional Blogging

I'm really impressed with the tips so far, I'm definitely going to try Simrin's beer making suggestion. Anyway as usual I digress. My way to make extra cash during hard times would be professional blogging.If you're really passionate about a subject or just want to learn more then you could start your own blog to share knowledge, information and ideas. You could then attract followers and once you've got about 1000 members you could be close to self sufficiency. I'm really being serious here, there are some professional bloggers such as Pat Flynn who earn up to $40,000 per month just sharing their thoughts and ideas. I guess you could start with a platform such as wordpress or blogger and then monetize the content with google adsense, once you start getting traffic you could sell ebooks or products. I blog online and I make anything between $1000 to $1500 per month which is great as a second income.

5. Book Keeping

This is going to be a great thread, if we can all share our ideas it will help so many people. I love the way people are recommending a book and linking to a YouTube video, it's like have all the information you need in one place to make cash during hard times.

My suggestion is book keeping, I'm from the UK and the demand for qualified book keepers is high, accountants charge an arm and a leg and most small business cant afford them. Taking a course in book keeping costs around £300 however if you've got a good head for numbers then you can just buy a book and offer your services on sites like Gumtree, Elance and other freelance sites. A qualified bookkeeper can charge between £10 to £15 per hour and if you do a great job small businesses have a knack of recommending people they trust. 6. Busking or Performing on the Street

When times were hard I use to do this on nearby subway stations or busy malls. I was able to play the guitar and I had a decent voice (nothing to brag about), anyway I always wanted to be a performer and wasn't good enough so this is how I got my kicks. Seriously peeps this is great fun and the money isn't that bad either. I just wanted to say that some people will be very tight giving pennies while other people will really tip you well. On a good day on a good location with sunny weather I could earn anything up to $100, other slower days would be about $20. When I was desperate for money I would do this and it really helped.

7. Garage Sales or Car Boot Sales

My advice is to buy from garage sales or to sell your own stuff in a garage sale. My house was full of crap that no one used and was using up more space, there came a point where we had to contemplate moving, instead we decided to de-clutter and sell as much as we could. Basically to cut a long story short we made about 100 fliers and then posted them advertising our garage sale in our neighborhood and then priced all our stuff. It was a great success! we sold nearly everything and made about $400 in the process, we now have a clutter free house and space to roam around. We put the money in a savings account for a rainy day.

8. Competitions, Surveys, & Quizzes

My suggestion for making extra money during hard times or recessions is to enter competitions, quizzes and even take part in surveys. I can make at least $100 per month just entering every competition under the sun, I also take part in surveys and it's a great way to make some extra cash. There are hundred of sites to list so just to a search for making money in competitions, surveys and quizzes. This is seriously addictive and when you do make money it's really worth it. If you don't have anything better to do with your time then it's worth the investment. Sorry, I don't have a book recommendation or video.

9. Make Extra Cash With Credit Card Cashback

Has anyone tried credit card or checking account cash back? There are many bank accounts and credit cards that offer a certain percentage of cashback every time you spend money. I've currently got a capital one cash back card which is offering me 2% on everything, I have ordered multiple cards and given them to family members that I trust ( I have a large family). Normally make about $30 per month for just shopping which is insane, I use this money to pay for my cell phone subscription. LOL. Love finding free money.

10. Make Extra Money by Stoozing Credit Cards

Not sure if everyone is familiar with the word stoozing! Basically it's finding a credit card with 0 percent interest for a fixed period of time and then using that card for all of your normal expenses. You then put all of your income into a high interest savings account and then watch the money grow. When the interest free period is over you just pay off the balance and the money that remains is profit. I've done this with 12 month interest free cards and made up to $300 every year! This is a seriously cool way of making money from the banks.

11. Mowing Other People's Lawn

When I was strapped for cash I went on a mission to knock on people's doors and offer them my services, I mowed lawn, weeded gardens and even did sordid favors for frustrated housewives (I'm not proud, sorry Mr. Smith). Anyway the pay wasn't so bad and every time I knocked on someones door I told them why I was there and left a flyer with my cell phone number. On a good day I made about $200 per day, on bad days I made nothing. It helped me put food on the table. I'm not going to recommend a book, just create a flyer and knock on people's doors. Simple, any idiot could do it.

11. Make Money Delivering Pizza

I've had some pretty crap jobs in the past but they all put food on the table, if you're struggling and need some extra money you could try becoming a takeaway or pizza delivery boy. The pay is really bad and there is a risk that you may actually kill yourself while delivering that Pizza which has the 20 minute promise, however money isn't that bad and if you're desperate then it's worth a shot. I use to make about $100 per week part time doing this when I was laid off. Again no videos, as long as you know your local area and know how to ride a bike tis all good.

12. Make Extra Money by Giving Blood and Plasma

What a great thread I've already got some ideas here, the credit card cashback and the stoozing video have really given me something to think about, it's only fair that I reciprocate. I'm fast starting to enjoy coming back to this site again and again. I'm not sure how people are going to take this but have you considered giving blood and plasma for money. If you're fit and healthy and need some cash quick you could give blood. The pay is different in different states but you can do a quick google search for paid blood banks and call then to inquire about how much you can make. I've not really done this but I heard you can make about $300 per month on a regular basis. Bearing in mind that blood replenishes itself in the body it might be a great was to earn some extra income. If you're a women then you could even try donating platelets and eggs. Hope these suggestions go down well. Oh I almost forgot, you can also donate sperms too.

13. Sell Your Stuff on eBay

This is probably a no brainer but I thought I would mention it and then share my story. I first stated selling my crap on eBay just to get a few extra dollars and found that it was not that hard to sell, as long as you took nice pictures and had a great accurate description you could eventually sell the item. I used free insertion weekends and eventually gave it some more thought. I did some research to see what was selling well and found that car accessories were selling like hot cakes, you can actually see how much other people have sold, I found a similar product and placed an order with Alibaba and created a really nice page with accurate descriptions, I then used search engine optimization to get to the the first page for my item and now the item is selling really well. I'm selling about 10 per day and I get my kids to do all the packaging and posting which saves me time. Going to alibaba and getting the item cheap as well as researching the market really paid dividends. If you really want to make money on ebay you need to take it seriously and put a lot of thought into what you're doing. So far my best tip has to be about giving blood and plasma, I'm really going to do a lot of research to find a clinic where I can make money.

14. Building Niche Sites

You can find a niche topic that really interests you and build a website around it to sell items, this is different from a blog because you'll be offering quality information on a certain niche as opposed to expressing your opinions.
