    Hello,
My name is Lorie, and I'm a 40 year old, single, mother of two beautiful, respectful, smart children. I know there is a saying that there's always someone worse off than you, but right now, I really don't know if that's true. This long hard journey, which I've been on literally began before 2007. I was hospitalized, and had to have my gallbladder removed. A few years later, I started gaining unexplainable, rapid weight, and my doctor ordered me to see a surgeon, because my breast had grown so large, she felt it was a danger to my health. Soon after, she had diagnosed me with numerous illnesses, and I began suffering with all kinds of onsets. My doctor had no clue what was happening to me and my health. After being diagnosed with sudden high blood pressure, diabetes, anemia, and others sicknesses, I was at the clinic, with my son, for a well-check appointment. His nurse looked at me and told me I had a buffalo hump, on my neck. She told me to ask my doctor could I possibly have a rare syndrome called Cushing's Syndrome/Disease.
So, when I went to my next appointment, I asked my doctor about it. She told me she had never heard of Cushing's and everything I was experiencing was result of me overeating. I started researching the symptoms and side effects caused by this rare disease, and the more I read, the more I realized I was one of the rare individuals with this sickness. I suffered with fragile bones, hair loss, decaying teeth, massive weight gain, and depression, among many other things. By the next doctor's visit, my physician apologized, because she did her own research and realized that my symptoms matched the symptoms of a Cushing's patient. I still found another doctor. As a matter of fact, I went back to the doctor I had as a teenager, and she started treatment immediately. She referred me out to an endocrinologist, who referred me out to the Mayo clinic. I was blessed because the financial committee met and agreed to assist and treat me, providing and taking care of my medical expenses, if I agreed to be a case study.
Since becoming a patient at the Mayo clinic, I've undergone two separate adenoma removals, from my pituitary glands(2009/2010), and Gamma knife radiation(2011). After the tumors were removed, my body started healing, both inside and out, but I was still unable to work. As time went on, I was still under doctors care, and taking so many meds that they had began to make me sick. My weight went down, and my doctor then referred me out to a plastic surgeon, again, because I was suffering with constant back pain, and had to undergo my second breast reduction. Then she referred me out to a bariatric specialist. The next thing I knew, I was having surgery to put in a lap-band, resulting in me losing over 100 pounds, which caused me to undergo surgery, for a tummy tuck.
Now, regardless to all the weight loss and surgeries, I still found myself in the hospital. I had suffered a heart attack at the age of 35. I was actually walking on the track, with friends, when I felt something strange happening in my chest area. This was cause for me to still be under careful and close watch, by my doctors, but I noticed, I was slowly losing everything.
Well, since August of 2018, I've had to move out of my house, because the landlord increased my rent by $300, which I couldn't afford. I had to move into a mobile home, which needs so much work. It has sunk down on one end, and needs to be jacked up, and I can't afford to have it done. There's no heat, the bathroom sink doesn't work, the refrigerator doesn't work, but that's no big deal, because my food stamps were decreased from $274 to $167. I don't understand why, because my income hasn't increased. I receive $770 a month and things don't seem to be getting any better. I had to pawn my car title to have extra money for me and my children. The loan people are calling and harassing because my payments are behind, any and all gold jewelry I had, I've pawned just to stay afloat. I'm now at the end of my rope and the more and harder I try, it seems the worse my life gets.
Yes, I really need financial help, but at the same time, I so badly want to work. I don't want to seem like a leech or lazy begging person to anyone. I need help and assistance to get back up on my feet, so I can get myself together and build a stable life for me and my children. Can someone please guide me in the right direction, lead me to the right individuals, or organizations. PLEASE ASSIST!!!
