First of all, you must contact all your utility companies and creditors and inform them of your situation. As long as creditors and utility companies know that you are injured they will not treat you unfairly. Ask creditors to stop all interest payments and reduce monthly repayments because you cannot afford to pay them. Explain to them that you have every intention to pay once you recover from your injury.

Your utility company cannot stop the supply of your gas and electricity if you explain your present circumstances to them. They are most likely to put you on a repayment plan and on a social tariff.

If your income is below the Federal poverty line you may be eligible for benefits from the Government. I would suggest you contact a charity like The Salvation Army so they can explain all the options to you.

With regards to your credit score, you must start repairing otherwise your credit facility will dry up. Start by getting a copy of your credit report which is now available for free and look at ways to boost your credit score. You could apply for credit boosting prepaid credit card to start improving your creditworthiness.
