Where can I get the best private loans for graduate students who are eligible for student financial aid. Like a lot of people on this forum I'm thinking of returning to college to pursue further education. My income has increased and I don't think I'll be eligible for student financial aid or grants. I was thinking about taking out the cheapest and best private loans for graduate students. If anyone has any advice on which companies to approach for a student private loan please let me know.

Private Student Loans are available at most banks and credit unions. The best known lender for Private student loans is probably Sallie Mae. The best way to find the cheapest private student loan rate is to look at loan comparison sites like Credible.com and SimpleTuition.com. You mention that you might be ineligible for student financial aid. Before you dismiss this option I would recommend you check to see if you are eligible for scholarships or Federal Student Loans because it is free money or money at a very inexpensive rate.

I was fortunate enough to get a scholarship and was eligible for Federal Student Aid but I still needed a private student loan. I used the comparison sites above and the application process was very easy compared to filling out the FAFSA forms. You also get freedom on how you spend the money and it doesn't have to be on tuition, housing, and books etc. You can borrow as much as you need during your college years minus the financial aid you receive. Also cosigners can be anyone and not just parents and funds are send quickly once your application is approved.

Private student loans are handy but there are some drawbacks you need to be aware of. Your credit history will be taken into account and you'll probably have to pay a higher interest on the loan compared to federal loan programs. You have to start repaying the loan while you're studying and options such as flexible repayment plans, and loan modification as well as loan forgiveness are not available.
