Financial help for homeowners with low income families

Back in 2005 my partner and me bought a home to live in. We were approved of a mortgage quickly as we both had enough combined income to make the repayments. My partner no longer works and I have to make the entire payments and this is becoming increasingly difficult as our children grow older with additional needs. I was hoping someone could offer me advice and guidance on the financial help thats available for home owners.

This is a program introduced by the Obama administration to help home owners avoid foreclosures, stabilize the housing market and improve the nations economy. If you have a mortgage with Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac you might be able to modify the mortgage so your repayments reduce significantly. So many families have reduced their mortgage payments by 50% so it's definitely worth considering.

Have you tried lowering your other bills? Do you have a car payment or are you carrying a balance on your credit card? You might be able to sell your car and purchase a cheaper one. The trick is finding ways to stretch your dollar. Would it be possible to sell your home and purchase one that is cheaper?
