Help to catch up on bills after wreck.

    My husband had a motorcycle wreck, coming home from work one day(not his fault). He was the major source of income, worked hard everyday, and never once asked for hand-outs. Now that he is back to work and the guy we tried to sue for at fault for the wreck, didn't "have a pot to piss in" So, we are having to catch up on bills, let things go. . We have a mortgage, gas, electricity, etc...we have gone thru all our savings. He was off work for so long, and our family can only help so much, they have bills themselves. Please help in any way. Anything will be greatly appreciated!! I am asking for at least our mortgage, insurance, and electric bill.$1500. My husband is back at work and so am I. We just need help to catch up until our paychecks can get back to like they were. Thank you so very much for your time.

    Hi @Courtney Brown and welcome to The Find Some Money Forum. I'm sorry to hear about your husbands accident but I'm glad he's recovered and returned to work.

    It is very hard to catch up with financial commitments after such a terrible accident. I think the best way to approach this is to communicate with your mortgage company, insurance company and energy companies and explain to them your past and current circumstances. All these companies will help you to manage your debt accordingly. From my own personal experience these companies are more than likely to give you a payment holiday or spread the debt over 12 months so you can pay it off. I am sure of this.

    In the meantime I'm happy both of you are earning an income. I would recommend you start a 'Emergency Fund' because life can take weird unexpected turns and you need some money saved up for a rainy day. You should also consider paying for a life insurance policy should the worse happen so you know your loved ones are looked after.
