  1. Hopeless in Florida

    Hopeless in Florida Newbie

    Hi, I am a 61-year-old female. I moved here to Florida a year ago with some friends I came to help them start a business however the business didn't work out .I have been taking care of my friend's grandkids and her mother. She promised to help Me get my own place as I have been living in my car the whole time I have been here. But I have gotten no help from her. So I decided to do it on my own. However, I have not been able to find a place because I am on SS and I do not make but 877.00 a month and everyone here wants you to make 2-3 times your rent.However, I have found A place that was willing to rent me an Apartment for 600.00 Dollars a month. Well, I am going to move in on the first but I am not sure how long I will be able to keep it without help financially.

    I still owe 400 hundred for my Deposit and I owe 800 for the deposit on my Electric I am in desperate need of a two Thousand dollar loan that will pay off my deposits a title loan I have On my car. The balance I owe on my Phone Then I would have no problem paying all my bills and I could make a 200 dollar payment on the loan.

    All my problems would. Be over I know there are a lot of people out there in the same shape or worse and I pray for them every day. Well thank you for letting me vent Hopeless in Florida

    Hi @Hopeless in Florida and welcome to The Find Some Money Forum. I'm sorry to hear your business venture with your friend didn't work out. Starting a business can be tough and it usually takes a few go's before you hit a home run. I failed in many businesses before one of my businesses took off.

    It's really important that you get your own place. Living in a car can be very difficult so your priority is to move back into a house. If you have regular income coming in you could apply for rental assistance. I would advise you to head on over to US Housing and Urban Development website to check if you are eligible for rental assistance. If you are eligible a portion of your rent will be paid for you.

    If you don't have any regular income and have lost your job business through no fault of your own then you could possibly apply for unemployment benefit which would help to alleviate your circumstances.

    You could also ask charities for help. The Salvation Army is a great place to start as they could give you the advice needed to get out of this situation, they may even offer financial help. To save money on food you should look into Food Banks so you keep nourished and healthy.
