Just a quick heads up that Microsoft will begin their Scholarship program soon. At the moment the scholarship is closed and starts in the summer /fall. These scholarship opportunities are quickly snapped up so check out the following link from time to time to try to get into the program.

Microsoft is offering money for technical scholarships in 2014 to 2015, you can apply for free money for general scholarship, woman's scholarships, minority scholarships and scholarships for students with disabilities.

To apply for the scholarship you need to have a quality application, display interest in the software industry and have a financial need.

The application process is outlined below (Please note that the following is from the Careers Section of the Microsoft Website):

    1. Resume: including contact info, major & graduation date.
    2. A copy of your current academic transcript.
    3. Answer the following:
      1. What is your estimated tuition cost for 2014-2015 Academic Year and to demonstrate financial need, how are you currently funding your education?
      2. Is your tuition in state, out of state, private or international?
      3. Would receiving a Microsoft scholarship adversely impact any other financial aid you will receive in this same academic year?
    4. Short Answer Essay Questions:
      1. Tell us why you deserve this scholarship!
      2. How do you demonstrate passion for technology outside of the classroom?
      3. Tell us about the toughest technical problem you’ve worked on, how you addressed it, your role (if team-based) in reaching the outcome, and the final solution.
      4. Describe a situation which demonstrates your initiative and willingness to go above and beyond.
    5. Letter of Referral: from a faculty member or academic advisor who knows your work (must come from faculty’s email).
    6. Apply: for a Microsoft Summer Internship, take a screenshot of your application confirmation to include when emailing scholars@microsoft.com.
