I am writing this hoping someone, or someone who knows someone, can help our family fix and keep our damaged sinking home. A construction company caused a massive amount of damage. Let me try to make a long story short.[IMG]

My husband's grandparents used to own this home. They died unexpectedly. Then his mom and step dad owned this home and a couple years later they died unexpectedly. We dealt with 4 open estates and just got done paying the lawyer.

During this time there was damage to the foundation, roof, and gutters. His mother was sick and did not make the claim to fix or address it in any other way. I met my husband fell in love, and moved into this hoarder house. We were so consumed getting rid of massive amounts of junk and organizing memories, and going through grief and counseling, that we didn't realize that there were signs of foundation damage. We called a foundation company who said a wall was sinking. They did about 20k worth of work on one area. A month later Some of the same things were moving again.. They came back and gave us another quote for more work. More damage started happening. We were tossed around by the bigwigs, lawyers, engineers, and the construction company. No one wanted to take responsibility for the damages happening.

So we hired a lawyer. So far have paid about 9k to him. This is ALL of our loan money and savings... gone. We are worse off than we were before we started! We now feel like we have no choice but to settle outside of court and are working on a counter offer currently. Their first offer was such a joke. It's still looking like we will have paid 50k we never would have if they did the right job. Do you want to know the kicker? The big crack we found out after hiring an investigative engineer, was from someone (my husband's mom) hanging a potted plant. SO this 50k job is all from a little cosmetic crack that would have cost 1,500 to fix! Now because of the work they did, caused more damage and we are suffering so badly for it. We can't afford to take them to court and are going to have to settle. Even then, our house is so damaged we won't all get fixed.

Because of my husbands tragic family loss he developed PTSD and bipolar. He suffers daily but tries to work when he can. He goes to therapy and takes medication. He is the best daddy and my heart swells seeing him play tea party and baby dolls with my 2 amazing angel babies.

I have two beautiful girls that mean more to me than life itself. I want to raise them here in this home we have worked so hard to make ours. My family is everything to me and I want to keep a roof over our head.

If we didn’t inherit this home we would be on the streets. I will be completely transparent with my finances. I have lots of documented proof of this. I would even be open to suggestions on how to better spend or save money. I have done numerous things to be frugal and not waste I would love to share with you. We don’t make much and do use LEAP for heat help in Winter and CCAP forr help with child care expenses.

I am a nurse and have been caring for people since I was 16 starting as a PCA, then CNA, now LPN. I work at Kaiser Permanente and love my job. I am trying to pick up a second job so I can hopefully support my family during this terrible financial time. My husband can't work like I can because of his illness. I have loved and cared for many different people from many walks of life selflessly. I am a newbie gardener, passionate about saving the bees and bats. I am love my community and volunteer once a month all over the state going wherever I am needed.

Just this once, I need someone to care for me. I need my home fixed. Right now I am lying awake with my stomach in knots worrying what will become of this house we made home. I would love to invite you into my home to show you real proof of this mess. I'll cook you and your family a roast. I will show you why my family is worth fighting for. And if not, that's ok, because I won't stop ever. I am my family's advocate and bread winner, and I will make sure I sacrifice myself to give them the best life possible.

We need the following for repair:

    1) Grading around our home

    2) Rerouting of an outdoor gutter drain` `

    4) Deep Foundation repair to East, North, and West Garage

    5) Repair to sinking garage slabs

    5) Repair to Driveway that is not leveled right, water drains toward our home

    6) Help with existing HELOC currently at 100k

    7) Lawyer fees currently owe about 5k

    8) Removing rotting deck from improper drainage (we can get another one some other time this is luxury not needed)

    9) Replace windows in basement that have been broken and flooded from improper drainage

    10) Stabilizing falling wall in basement

    11) Stabilizing East basement wall deep foundation

Thank you for your time and consideration

Hi @lamers120, and welcome to the Find Some Money Forum. I am so sorry to hear about your circumstances and my heart goes out to you.

I read your post and see you have had a hard life. I hope things take a turn for the better soon.

Have you tried creating a crowdfunding page on GoFundMe.com, this way when people read about your circumstances they can donate through the site?

I think your story will compel people to donate so it's worth a shot.

I have shared your story on Reddit, Twitter, and FaceBook account so hopefully, you get some traffic to this request.

I wish you all the best...

Thank you for the share. That means a lot! I did create a gofundme and added it to an edit above. I have had a hard time lately but a great life. I know we will rise above this challenge somehow and be stronger from it.
