My name is Maritza, I’m Chilean, 58, and I am begging everybody with a big heart to help me get my money back.

In September last year someone I considered as a friend said he was able to help me with my financial expenses, I met him at LinkedIn more than a year ago, his name is Pedro Quezada, winner of the Powerball, he said he could send me $33.000 but since he had problems in the States because of the taxes, he had his money in Beni, at the Bank Société Générale, and that the only way to take the money out was to ask for an ATM card so I could withdraw money, $1.000 per day but I had to send $575 for the issue of the card

The sending via courier and the taxes they had to pay to the government, they even call me home to explain all of this because I refused to send the money, finally, they convinced me, I sent the $575 and never heard from them again, it was a fraud. Now I need that money because I never told my husband that I had taken that money from our savings and we need that money urgently, maybe it’s not a big quantity but for me it is and I’m in big trouble. Please help me with whatever you can so I can gather the money, I’ll appreciate it all my life. I enclose the voucher of Moneygram.

Hi, @Polita and welcome to the Find Some Money Forum. I read your post and I am sorry that you've been a victim of internet fraud. There are a lot of unsavory characters lurking on the internet so it's important to be careful. I think the best thing you can do is to learn the lesson and put this thoroughly behind you. I would advise you to tell your husband as I believe honesty is the best policy. If your husband were to ever find out he would be very disappointed and may have reservations trusting you again.

Going forward, I think you should contact the Police and Fraud Prevention Agencies to get justice, justs by taking the time to make a report you would be helping to catch these degenerates. Also, you could ask other people for help. You could set up a crowdfunding page to ask rich people for help. Crowdfunding is a way of writing about your problems and then sharing it with other people in the hope that they donate money. You could use sites such as GoFundMe.com and FundAnything.com to set up crowdfunding campaigns. I have attached some links below so you can have a look. Anyway, I wish you all the best. I have shared this post on my Facebook and Twitter page so hopefully, you may get some help. Feel free to keep the conversation going or send me a PM if you prefer. Once again, I wish you all the best.

Thank you very much for your answer. I haven't had the courage to tell my husband but I know eventually I'll have to do it because we both need a dental treatment, and here in Chile (I don't know in the States) they are very expensive and we will need that money, even if it means a little of all the expenses. I don't know how to tell him, I know he's going to be furious, but what's done is done. Thank you very much again and wish me luck please.

I forgot to tell that I gave notice of this fraud to the corresponding authorities here and abroad but I bet this bad guy and his friends are still scamming innocent people because his profiles and other 2 guys are still at LinkedIn and Facebook although I advised both LinkedIn and Facebook that they had criminals among their people. He pretends to be the real Pedro Quezada, winner of the Powerball and he's offering loans, donations and so on to scam people.

Dental Treatment can be very expensive so I understand the strain you must be under, I pray you find a way forward. I'm glad you decided to tell your husband. I always believe that honesty is the best policy, you're husband may be furious but his trust towards you will remain strong and trust is the basis for all relationships to thrive. Think of this as a blessing in disguise, you will be stronger with your husband and you will be wary of fraud in the future. I wish you all the best.
