I'm unable to pay student loan! is school loan deferment the answer?

I've racked up over $150,000 dollars in student loans. Now I'm unable to pay my student loan because I don't earn enough to make the payments. I was thinking a school loan deferment might be the answer. A lot of student I know have taken a loan deferment and forbearance and have even stopped paying interest and been given a 3 year student loan holiday. I am on a very low income and my expensive education has not really been worth it because no jobs are available or there are hundreds of people going for the same job. Can someone point me in the right direction?
