Leave the rat race forever - 5 ways to financial freedom

I hate it when people take away my freedom; I still remember crying everyday not wanting to go to school. The thought of being in a routine really agitated me! Eventually I got use to the idea but I never liked it. When I started working things didn’t get any better, the whole concept of waking up and going to work depressed me no ends.

I always thought it was the job and hopped around for several years until I realized that I’m not compatible with the rat race. It’s such a liberating experience when you finally come to terms with what you are; one of my friends compared the feeling to coming out of the cupboard.

Once you’ve come to terms with what you are you can stop hiding your true colours and find a way out, it might take months, it might take years but at least you’ll have a vision and mission in life. The reason for writing this article other than to make money is to show people all the different ways to leave the rat race, you can choose one or you can choose a few.

#1: Work Your Socks Off Until You Reach Your Target

To leave the rat race we need passive income to come in regardless of whether we work or not. This could be interest from a bank account of profits from dividend shares. We need to work out how much money we need to achieve that amount.

Suppose we need $1000 per month to live then over a year we’ll need $12,000. If the prevailing interest is 3% then we’ll have to save $400,000. Knowing the figure you need spurs you on achieve financial freedom. Rather than having haphazard figures have an exact figure and work on it relentlessly.

#2: Write a Book on a Subject You’re Passionate About

You have your work time and you have your free time. If you use your free time to build residual income eventually it will replace your employment income and you’ll be financially free. A great way of creating a passive income stream is by writing books people want to read.

If you’re passionate about a subject and want to have a voice and teach people things then writing a book is a great way to generate income. You can read 20 books on the subject your passionate about and then write one book than reflects your personal stance on the subject. If you have something valuable to add then people will continue to buy the book. You don’t have to stop and you can write several books and reap the rewards with passive income.

Publishing books has become really easy now and everyone is doing it on Amazon, most of the books are crap however if you can produce a masterpiece you will become rich very quickly.

#3: Create a Business and Make it Grow

Another option you have is to create a business which is not labour intensive; this should ideally be an internet business where you can reach millions of people with a product or service. One of the quickest ways to make money in business is to set up a website and offer an eBook which addresses a problem or a need.

It’s better to write a book than to develop a product as there is no ongoing production cost, an ebook costs nothing to replicate and send to someone.

#4: Become a Blogger with Lots of Followers

Are you opinionated? Are you passionate? Do you always want to get your point across? If so then you should try blogging, if there are more people like you then you’ll develop a following and once you’ve got a loyal band of 1000 followers you can start monetizing your content with ads or products that you recommend.

If people really respect your opinions and you can write effectively to stir a response then you can make a lot of money. There are thousands of bloggers in the world today who make more than CEO’s of blue chip companies. They have power and authority in their word and don’t know when to give up.

Suppose you developed 1000 followers and recommended a product or book you could make a lot of money through affiliates, you would also make a lot of money by monetizing the traffic. If the blog grew big enough and there was commercial viability it could even be sold off for millions.

#5: Invent a Product That Millions Want

If you can identify a need or a problem and offer a solution you can make a lot of money. If there is a worldwide need and no one has come up with a practical solution then develop something that solves the problem and market it.

Even if there’s something out there you could improve it and add value and sell the superior product. One of the quickest ways to get rich is to solve problems and offer solutions.

#6: Sell You Stuff and Go Abroad

If you’ve got savings or equity in a property then that’s great news. You could sell everything and then stick the money in a high interest account and then move to a country where the cost of living is 10 times less than it is in the UK or USA.

Places like the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia cost between 10 to 15 times less to live in than places like London and New York City. This concept is called Geo-Arbitrage and was made famous by Tim Ferris from the 4 Hour Work Week.

If you hate the rat race don’t spend five days working and then two days getting over the five days! Instead make a plan and put it into action, there will be times when you want to give up and this is when the men are separated from the boys and the women are separated from the girls. Financial liberation is within your reach, all you have to do is take it.
