Save my home please

Where do I begin? From point A to now is a long story.

In 1989, my family and I moved into my husband's grandparent's old house.

My husband had been medically discharged from the U.S. Navy.

We were destitute, no jobs, no income, nowhere to go.

My husband finally got his 100% disability from Social Security and The Veterans' Administration.

He died a little over 3 years later.

We had worked ourselves to the bone making the house livable.

Then, my daughter and I were left with bills and no income.

She was in high school and I had given up my career to take care of my husband. Somehow, we managed and kept going.

In 2012, my house was deemed uninsurable, unless I had major renovations done. After much research, I was able to obtain a portfolio loan for $45,000.00 for 10 years.

At the time, I had the income to pay the loan payment and all my other bills. The following year, 2013, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I lost half my income.

Friends and family stepped in and helped until 2014. I didn't finish all surgeries and treatments until December 2016. I had to file for bankruptcy in 2015, but after a year of making payments of about $800.00 per month from an income of $954.00 per month (social security) I had to give that up.

Now, I am on the brink of foreclosure. All during this time, I have applied for jobs to no avail. I was an executive secretary. I WANT to work, but NOW I need the money to pay off the loan of approximately $35,000.00 in order to keep my home.

I have until April 27, 2017, then foreclosure proceedings will begin. I have nowhere to go. I'm the widow of an American, Vietnam era veteran. Shall, I too, become homeless?
