Saving Money on Gym Membership and Travel In One Go

It really infuriates me when my husband puts the heating on to dry the clothes, we don't have a dryer. I've always dried my clothes in the past by hanging them outside and it doesn't make sense why someone would spend money on heating when they could dry the clothes outside for free. This concept really got me thinking and now I'm trying to combine problems together to find a solution.

Two things which were costing me a lot of money was travel and gym membership. The cost of commuting to and from work was costing me over $200. I also like to keep fit so I have full membership to the gym which costs me $60 per month. In total I was spending $260 going to work and keeping fit! in a year that's $3120.

To save all this money I was spending on travel and fitness I decided to cycle to work! I took two problems which were costing me money and I was able to find a solution which complemented each other and saved all the money in the process. I now cycle 9 miles to work and back again. The amount of calories that I burn is what I would normally burn at the gym anyway!

This concept has inspired me to find other ways of combining two or three problems to find a logical solution which is free. Something that I'm working on now is saving money and time by watching less TV and replacing them by spending a few hours together as a family doing tasks that improve our children's academic performance, this means we won't have to spend more money on private tuition during exam time.
