    Hello All,

Really loving the Travel Rewards and Cashback Rewards discussion on this forum, some really useful stuff here and knowledgeable people too!

I wanted to pick your brains. I've got a FICO credit score of 760. The last credit inquiry I made was over 6 months ago. I've also paid off all my debts and have 7 years of payment history. My credit report has no adverse markers so I've got a clean bill of health. Yay.

I have the Capital One Venture Reward Credit Card already and I earn 2X for every dollar I spend. I've taken advantage of the 50,000 air miles introductory offer. I've accumulated a lot of points so far.

I'm thinking about applying for the Capital One VentureOne Rewards credit card. I just wanted to know if it's really worth it? Should I have both cards? does it make sense to the travel reward experts out there?

    Thanks in advance...

I think it's worth applying. There is an introductory bonus of 20,000 air mile points when you spend $1000 within the first 3 months of opening the account. You could just open the account, take advantage of the 20,000 air miles. You could then use the partner airline loyalty programs, you could probably boost it to 30,000. You could earn another $100 if you refer your partner or your partner refers you.

Just take advantage of the introductory offer and the referral bonus and then transfer to a partner loyalty program for the boost if available.

Once you've rinsed the introductory offer you can go back to using the Capital One Venture and not the VentureOne as you can earn 2X air miles with the former and 1.25 air miles with the latter.

Worth mentioning that Capital One Venture has a $95 annual fee from the second year whereas VentureOne has no annual fee.

For me I have both cards, I used the VentureOne to take advantage of the referral bonus and to get the 20,000 air miles which I plugged into an airline partner program which I boosted. I continue to use the Capital One Venture Rewards because it has 2X, I spend enough to make it worth paying the annual fee for the number of air miles I collect. Just do a quick calculation to see if you will make more keeping the Capital One Venture rewards credit card, otherwise just use the Capital One VentureOne Rewards credit card.

    Hope that makes sense...

I would say go for it. Your Excellent credit score and credit report means you'll definitely be approved, no questions asked. The Capital One VentureOne Reward card now comes in metal so it makes an exquisite addition to your wallet. There's no annual fee ever so it wont make a big difference.

I think what most travel reward experts do is just spend $1000 within the first 3 months to get the 20,000 air mile rewards and then just leave it for emergencies.

I'm leaning towards applying for the VentureOne Rewards Credit Card. Thanks for the input. Yes, I will ask my partner to send a referral link and I'll send one to him too, I guess it's an easy way to earn $100 in the process. Thanks for the clarity @Shobir

I get you. I'll probably do the same. I have a small project I was thinking of doing. Going to hire a freelancer with this money to get some Print On Demand designs and will leave it on RedBubble.com. hopefully, should earn more over a year, and I can get my hands on the 20,000 air mile bonus. Again, thanks for the advice and insights.

I've done the calculations and it makes sense for me to use the Capital One Venture Rewards and not the VentureOne, I'll be able to earn more in air miles which makes it worth paying the annual $95 fee.

I'm not really a fan of the Capital One VentureOne rewards credit card. The only reason I applied for it was to take advantage of the Referral Bonus my wife sent me and to get the 20,000 air mile points for spending $1000 in the first 3 months. After than I never really used it. I use the Capital One Venture Rewards credit card which offers 2X, I know there's a $95 fee second year onward, however the amount of air miles I earn offsets this more than if I used the VentureOne. It all depends on your personal circumstances, do some calculations and find which one is better for you.

Another thing I liked about the VentureOne credit card is that is comes in metal, I believe they made the switch from plastic in Feb 2017. Looks really good too.

The only reason I got this card was for the 20,000 air miles bonus. I just spent $1000 like everyone is this thread and got the 20,000 which I boosted through the partner programs.

  11. Just get it for the 20,000 intro bonus, it's what everyone does. I've got a feeling that Capital One will discontinue the VentureOne Rewards card so do it quickly.
